Coronation Street confirms Paul's death and devastating Billy twist

Coronation Street has confirmed Paul Foreman's death and a devastating twist for his husband Billy Mayhew.
Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year. The condition has worsened in recent months, with Paul outlining his intention to die with dignity before his MND fully progressed. He has since had a change of heart.
After Billy takes a photo of Paul with his family, Paul is inspired to record a list of all the things he would like Billy to do after he passes. But when Billy tries to play the recording, the battery runs out, leaving him demoralised.

As Summer tries to sort the recording, David suggests that he and Billy go for a drink, with Paul urging his husband to let his hair down.
In scenes set to air next week, Billy complains about his hangover, before realising that he's lost his phone. Worried about losing all his photos and memories, he sets off to retrace his steps.
Meanwhile, Summer and Bernie are horrified to discover Paul unresponsive on the sofa, struggling to breathe. Summer calls an ambulance, and realises she has no way of contacting Billy.

Not wanting Billy to miss saying goodbye to his husband, Summer and Bernie try to do everything they can to keep Paul alive. Will Billy make it back in time?
Following Paul's tragic death, Billy wakes up on the sofa and stares at Paul's empty wheelchair. He then begins to contemplate the sad reality of his life going on without his husband.
Tensions run high as the family continue to grieve Paul's death. Will they be able to come together to plan Paul's funeral?

Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy, recently spoke to Digital Spy about the end of Paul's storyline during a photoshoot for the Inside Soap Awards 2024.
"Obviously we are sadly coming toward the end of this story, so the audience would probably be best to keep a little box of tissues on the arm of your chair," he said.
"As much as Billy, Bernie and Summer are all grieving Paul, we're grieving Pete [Ash, who plays him], because we're going to be losing one of our best mates. So the heartbreak is real."
