Like her iconic Friends character, Courteney Cox is a self-professed “clean freak” — but it's not necessarily a trait she passed down.

The actress, 60, tells PEOPLE that her 20-year-old daughter Coco Arquette “does not” share her passion for organization and cleaning.

“Every now and then, she'll be like, ‘Mom, I cleaned out my room and I feel so good.’ And I go, ‘That's a feeling you could have all the time,’ and it just doesn't happen,” Cox says.

“She's getting older and she does live on her own, and she does take pride in that, which I think is good,” Cox adds. “But no, I don't think she has my gene in the same way, and I don't have hers. Listen, she's a great singer. She's a great writer. She has so many qualities that I don't have, so that's okay.”

Cox says her own reputation for cleanliness isn’t only because of Monica Geller, the charmingly neurotic character she played for 10 seasons on Friends.

“Everyone that knows me, any friend I have, knows that I just love things that are organized, neat and clean, and I can't help it,” adds Cox, who shared with PEOPLE exclusively that she’s partnering with Shark to highlight the brand's new vacuums. “I was born this way and it's so important to me. One of the things that make me happy is to have a really clean surrounding.”

While Coco, whom Cox shares with ex-husband David Arquette, may not share her mom’s obsession, she served as the inspiration for a collection Cox recently launched for her home fragrance brand Homecourt.

The bodycare line, called Cocomoi, is symbolic of the mother-daughter duo’s “deep connection,” Cox said in a statement in July.

The products, which include perfume, body wash, body mist and body butter, feature “coconut water to represent Coco’s love for the ocean and the grounding notes of cedarwood representing [Cox’s] love for her as a mother, along with the sweetness of creamy fig and cardamom to speak to the sweetness of her heart.”

Last fall, Cox opened up about being an empty nester after Coco left for college.

"I miss that girl every minute," Cox told Marie Claire, adding that they FaceTimed often and that she had recently visited Coco.

"I found myself expecting [to run] into each other's arms," she admitted. "I expected her to need [me] more than she does. It's an adjustment."
