Dave Matthews tribute, Taylor Swift party and more heat up beach stages

Beach locals traditionally view the last weekend of June as the calm before the 4th of July storm. Tourists sometimes stay home and save their money in advance of the Independence Day holiday, which is also when the summer season really kicks into high gear. However, concert venues along the coast already have entertainment schedules that are as hot as the recent weather has been.

In Dewey Beach, the Bottle & Cork nightclub hosted sold-out country shows by both Jake Owen and Sarah Evans last week, and is now set to present a succession of concerts spanning various genres of music. Note that all of these events will start shortly after the doors open at 8 p.m. On Thursday, June 27, the Cork will welcome Trippin Billies: The Dave Matthews Tribute Band ($30). Country star Chris Lane performs Friday, June 28 ($40 in advance, $43 at the door).

On Wednesday, July 3, the Cork will again present The Taylor Party ($25). This is the third time in recent months the traveling DJ dance party paying homage to Taylor Swift has popped into Dewey — once before at the Cork, and once at its nearby sister business the Rusty Rudder. (Each of those bookings was sold out by showtime.) Only ages 21 and up will be admitted.

As mentioned recently in this column, local music promoter Marissa Levy Lerer opened the new location of her original music venue The Listening Booth on Memorial Day weekend. It is now located in the Coastal Plaza strip mall on southbound Route 1 at Midway. A double-shot of Americana music is scheduled for this coming weekend. On Friday, June 28, North Carolina-based quartet Time Sawyer will perform after a 7 p.m. set by Jackson Vari ($25). On Saturday, June 29, Philly favorite J.D. Webb & the Good God Damn will follow a 7 p.m. performance by Katie Dill ($35).

Ocean City's Seacrets heats up concert series with reggae, rock acts

Seacrets in Ocean City will present Jamaican reggae trio F.Y.A.H. (Free Your Authentic Heart) on the outdoor beach stage at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 3.

In Ocean City, the annual summer concert series at Seacrets will continue at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 3 with a performance by Jamaican reggae trio F.Y.A.H. (Free Your Authentic Heart) on the outdoor beach. Admission will be a mere $5 (or free with local ID).

Seacrets has also announced a last-minute addition to this summer’s series. Tickets are on sale now for a Tuesday, Aug. 13, appearance by Boston-based rock quartet Ripe, who will follow a 7 p.m. opening set by Dreamfone ($20).

Burley Oak hosting Montana alt-bluegrass group

In nearby Berlin, the Burley Oak Brewing Company will host Montana alt-bluegrass group The Kitchen Dwellers on Wednesday, July 3 ($26). Doors open at 6 p.m., a to-be-announced opening act will play at 7 p.m. and The Kitchen Dwellers will play their headlining set at 8 p.m. Tickets are also on sale for a Saturday, July 20 show featuring jam band tribute Better Off Dead ($20).
