Doylestown's Total Skills boys basketball team captures AAU world championship

The Total Skills Select 8th-Grade Boys Basketball Team went undefeated to win the AAU World Championships in Orlando, Florida, on July 4-7.

Doylestown-based Total Skills defeated two-time defending champion Gainesville (Virginia) 63-55 in the semifinals and upended Greensboro (North Carolina) 61-38 in the title game to close out an 8-0 tournament.

The tourney featured teams from 32 states and nine countries. Total Skills beat entries from Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Canada and Virginia.

Total Skills' Orlando roster consisted of players from Central Bucks East (Ryan Dailey, Keegan Marascio, Sean Korlesky and Matt Korlesky), Pennridge (Christian Flood and Ryan Flood), Central Bucks West (John Vrettos), North Penn (Brycen Foust) and Plymouth Whitemarsh (Peter Turchi).

Vrettos, Marascio and Dailey were the team's leading scorers.

"All season long they bought in to playing team basketball," said head coach Jeremy Beckett. "I'm extremely proud for our players, their families and our organization. This accomplishment is a testament to all of their hard work and dedication to this team."
