Who should be the Driscoll Children's Hospital High School Athlete of the Week?

Track & field, baseball and softball are in full swing and several standouts from last week are finalists for this week's Driscoll Children’s Hospital Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week.

The Caller-Times is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close on Thursday and the winners will be announced Friday each week.

Robstown's Trinity Anscombe broke three meet records at the Coastal Bend Coaches Association Meet of Champions, winning the long jump, 100 and 200 to earn high point female athlete of the meet.

Ingleside softball player Kalee Bullard went 12 of 17 with 11 runs, eight RBIs, three doubles, two triples and seven stolen bases for the Mustangs last week.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.

This Week's Finalists

• Trinity Anscombe, Robstown girls track & field — The Pickers junior broke three meet records at the CBCA Meet of Champions, winning the long jump (19-0.5), 100 (12.57) and 200 (26.00) to earn high point female athlete of the meet.

• Kalee Bullard, Ingleside softball — Bullard went 12 of 17 with 11 runs, eight RBIs, three doubles, two triples and seven stolen bases for the Mustangs last week.

• Micah Martinez, Beeville baseball — Martinez went 6 for 7 over three games at a tournament hosted by the Trojans including five RBIs, while also tossing a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts.

• Brandon Munoz, Veterans Memorial boys soccer — Munoz's play at center-back and midfield helped the Eagles win a District 29-5A InterZone playoff match against Gregory-Portland 2-0, helping Veterans Memorial claim a playoff spot.

• Layton Niemann, Woodsboro boys track & field — Niemann set a new personal and meet record with a clearance of 15-feet to win the CBCA Meet of Champions boys pole vault competition.

• Eden Perez, Hebbronville boys track & field — Perez swept the boys 100- and 200-meter dash at the CBCA Meet of Champions after winning the 200 at the Border Olympics, and taking second in the 100.

• Landon Salinas, London baseball — Salinas went 13 for 16 with four doubles, one home run, 12 RBIs and six runs helping the Pirates win last weekend's Comal Clash Tournament against larger schools.

• Cristela Trevino, Alice softball — Trevino went 2 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs in an 11-5 non-district win against King.
