Driver, 76, dies after weekend crash at Alliance intersection with flashing traffic signal

ALLIANCE − A 76-year-old city resident has died after a traffic crash Saturday morning at East Broadway Street and South Union Avenue.

Cynthia S. Bailey died on Sunday at the Akron Campus of Summa Health System.

A crash report from the Alliance Police Department says that Bailey was driving west on Broadway in a red 2007 Toyota Yaris when the car collided with a gray 2017 Ford F-350 pickup truck that was northbound on Union.

The report said Bailey had flashing red lights at the intersection and the other driver, Robert R. McNutt, 47, of Lexington Township, had flashing yellow lights.

McNutt and his 12-year-old female passenger, of the same address, had no apparent injury.

Bailey was initially taken to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital by ambulance.

The collision occurred at 7:52 a.m.

No citation was issued.
