East Stroudsburg University's Sandy Miller to be inducted into field hockey Hall of Fame

Sandy Miller has earned just about every accolade you can imagine during her soon-to-be 40 years as the head coach of East Stroudsburg University field hockey: conference champion, national champion and Coach of the Year.

Now Miller can add another accolade, which might eclipse all others — Hall of Famer.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced that Miller is one of two women who will be inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame. She will be recognized Jan. 16, 2025, at the NFHCA Hall of Fame Reception and Awards Dinner, which is the final event of the organization's annual convention in Lake Mary, Florida.

In 39 years of leading the Warriors, Miller has a career record of 497-287-11, which ranks third all-time in NCAA Division II wins. She is a five-time NFHCA DII Coach of the Year (1993-94, 2001, 2015, 2022) and two-time PSAC Coach of the Year (1996, 2016). Additionally, Miller has won four Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) titles and two Division II national titles.

"Being the field hockey coach at East Stroudsburg University for the past 40 years has been an incredibly special journey for me," Miller said. "Watching generations of talented athletes grow, excel and achieve their dreams on these fields and after their graduation has filled my heart with immense pride and joy. It's been a privilege to be part of such a dedicated and passionate athletic program, and I look forward to this coming season with another group of special young women."
