Enjoy an evening of blues with the Jack Whittle Trio and Davy Knowles Feb. 16 at The Acorn
THREE OAKS — Davy Knowles and the Jack Whittle Trio perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 16 at The Acorn, 107 Generations Drive.
A native of the Isle of Man, the roots singer-songwriter and guitarist began his career with the blues band Back Door Slam, which released two albums, 2007’s “Roll Away” and 2009’s “Coming Up for Air,” and the DVD “Back Door Slam: Live from Bonnaroo.”
After Back Door Slam broke up in 2009, Knowles embarked on his solo career. To date, he’s released four solo albums: 2014’s “The Outsider,” 2016’s “Three Miles from Avalon,” 2021’s “What Happens Next” and 2023’s “If I Should Wander.”
Knowles has described “If I Should Wander” as a departure from his earlier work. A solo, acoustic album recorded on a 1932 National Triolian resonator guitar, he has said it’s “close, personal, intimate. More like a confessional than a recording. No frills, no trickery and just one microphone.”
A blues and roots singer, guitarist and songwriter based in Northwest Indiana, Whittle released his self-titled debut album in 2022.
Tickets are $55-$30.
