Teenagers rockers the Linda Lindas are having quite a week. Three days days after opening for the Rolling Stones at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, the group has announced their sophomore album, No Obligation, as well as its next single and Janes Wyatt-directed video, “All in My Head.” The 12-track LP will arrive Oct. 11 from Epitaph.

Guitarist/vocalst Lucia de la Garza says “All in My Head” has “the most indie vibes we’ve leaned into so far because it was written on an acoustic guitar,” and that the song was inspired by the book My Year of Rest And Relaxation. “It felt like a break from reality, which we don’t usually find ourselves writing about,” she says.

More from Spin:

Venturing away from the melodic sing-a-long chants that permeated its predecessor and farther into brash, immediate rock territory, No Obligation was recorded during holiday breaks and long weekends, owing to its members other obligations to school and family. It’s the follow-up to 2022’s Growing Up, which drew acclaim from such veteran artists as Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore.

The Linda Lindas will support Green Day on their summer Dookie/American Idiot tour, starting July 29 in Washington, D.C. The group will also play a handful of their own headlining shows during the run.
