The Bose X SPIN “Decades of Sound” series celebrates both 60 years of Bose and of legendary music. Through this landmark celebration of six decades of groundbreaking sound, we’ve paid tribute to iconic artists who have not only defined their eras but reshaped the landscape around them.

Sublime’s Jakob Nowell talked about filling in for his late father Bradley to carry on the legacy of one of the most important bands of the ’90s.

More from Spin:

The Last Dinner Party celebrated the eclectic nature of music in the ’70s by choosing Black Sabbath, Kool & the Gang, and Dolly Parton as their desired headliners for a hypothetical music festival at that time.

Death Cab for Cutie’s Benjamin Gibbard reflected on the influence of Joy Division and New Order on American music in the ’80s and said his dream collaboration would be with The Cure’s Robert Smith.

In a nod to his own band’s influence on punk and hardcore, Bad Brains’ H.R. selected their 1984 concert at famed New York club CBGB as the best of that decade.

Rapper Killer Mike was too young to be a part of the original hip-hop revolution of the ’80s, but fondly looked back on the decade as one that “gave you everything, from new wave, heavy hardcore redefined by Metallica [and] the musings of N.W.A. and 2 Live Crew.”

Finally, while discussing coming of age in the 2000s, Griff recalled going down YouTube rabbit holes to discover her earliest musical influences, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys.
