What will The Devil Wears Prada sequel be about?

Per Variety, the project's storyline “reportedly follows [Miranda] Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and faces off against [Emily] Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.” TL;DR: There's likely gonna be no shortage of *chef's kiss* moments that'll make fans of the original incredibly happy.

Who will be in it?

According to Puck News, Meryl Streep will reportedly reprise her role as Runway editor Miranda Priestly alongside fellow actor Emily Blunt, who played her assistant in the original film. That! Said!!! Neither the actors nor Disney has confirmed this, so we'll just have to keep manifesting it happens. 🕯️🕯️🕯️

Additionally/sadly, Anne Hathaway is also not guaranteed to work on the sequel, though she *has* publicly spoken out about her feelings on a follow-up to the beloved 2006 film—and tbh, her thoughts on it kinda make us 😭.

“I don't think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen,” the actor confessed to E! News back in March. However, Anne also noted that she's beyond grateful for how impactful the movie still is all these years later, adding, “The reason that movie felt so special was that we were a team and we did that work, but really it's the love that everybody pours to it.”

And just a month later, in April 2024, during an interview with V Magazine, the celeb shared similar sentiments after being asked about the likelihood of a The Devil Wears Prada sequel: “Probably not. We all love each other and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to. But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object. Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different. Maybe me, Stanley [Tucci], Emily [Blunt], Meryl [Streep], Dave Frankel, Patricia Field…we should just all do something else together. That’d be fun.”

Legit all of us after reading this ^^^:

Speaking of Stanley Tucci, though...the actor has fully been quoted as saying he'd “happily play Nigel again” as recently as last year. 👀

When will The Devil Wears Prada sequel come out?

*Le sigh* While a million girls would kill to see this movie in theatres RTFN, we don't know for sure when it'll debut. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anything else?

In the years since the original The Devil Wears Prada film came out, fans everywhere have been obsessed with the fact that Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway occasionally continue the project's lore, most recently by reuniting at the SAG Awards in February 2024.

Additionally, Anne and Emily sat down late last year and reminisced about making the movie for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series. “We just had a joy bomb of a time on that movie. I don’t know if any of us knew it was going to become what it did. It’s quoted to me every week. It will be the movie that changed my life,” Emly said during the convo. “So we’re in the The Devil Wears Prada club together,” Anne added.

Aaaaaand that's pretty much all we know about the highly-anticipated sequel, but definitely make sure to check back for any and all updates! In the meantime...
