What to expect as Road work begins on Erie's Bayfront Parkway at Cranberry Street

Construction on the Bayfront Parkway at Cranberry Street is scheduled to begin Sept. 16.

Drivers can expect lane closures and flaggers controlling traffic at times while a traffic signal is installed to replace the stop sign at the foot of Cranberry.

Once installed, the light will flash for 30 days before going into service. The signal will turn red on the parkway only when vehicles are stopped on Cranberry Street.

The $571,000 Cranberry Street improvement project also will include paving and pedestrian improvements, including countdown signals, lighting, piano-key crosswalks and sidewalk construction on the north side of Cranberry Street to link to the existing path.

The Bayfront Multimodal Trail will be closed to bikes and pedestrians for a 24-hour period at some point during construction for the installation of a new ADA curb ramp at the northeast corner of the intersection.

Work is expected to be completed in June.
