'They make me feel wanted,' Miami commit Girard Pringle Jr. is locked on the Hurricanes

Girard Pringle Jr. is ranked as the one of the top running backs in the USA Today Florida Top 100, and it's no secret why.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Miami commit is dominating for Armwood High School in his senior campaign, and already has the Hurricane faithful excited for his arrival next year.

And Pringle Jr. is just as excited to get to Miami. In a world rife with decommits and flips, he says there's a reason he's keeping other voices out of the recruiting process.

"The family," he said. "They treat me like I'm family. I'm very tight with them, and they make me feel wanted and loved."

Any school in the country would want Pringle Jr., and it's evident when you look at his offers. He landed on Miami in March over 35 other schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri, Ole Miss, Washington and Iowa.

This season, he's tallied 309 yards on 58 carries while punching in nearly half of undefeated Armwood's touchdowns (five). Luckily for the Hurricanes, Pringle Jr. only wants to continue the dominance for Mario Cristobal and company.

"I'm locked in," Pringle Jr. said. "I'm not going anywhere."

Most recently, Pringle Jr. willed the Hawks to a 31-27 win over a loaded Tampa Bay Tech squad. He scored three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 43 seconds left to play. All while repping Hurricane orange arm sleeves in the first half.

"[These games] are very fun," Pringle Jr. said after the win. "The competition level, the intensity, the adrenaline, it's just awesome."

Try as they might, but it will be difficult for other Power-4 programs to pull Pringle Jr. away from Miami. It's the connection with the coaching staff, especially running backs coach Matt Merritt, that keeps him tethered to the Hurricanes.

"It's just the bond I have with the coaches," he said. "Which is great. So I'm always fired up to go up there."

Armwood (3-0) - located off I-4 east of Tampa - gets set to host Durant (2-1) on Friday, then will hit the road at Hillsborough (1-2) and Plant (2-1) in the following weeks.
