It's not uncommon to see Hummers on off-road trails, but spotting one of General Motors's new electric ones there is still a comparatively rare site. Even more rare, however, is finding one in the middle of nowhere with no owner or occupants in sight — a circumstance that one man recently found himself in, according to a post on social media.

According to TikTok userAllen Skillicorn, he was descending a barren section of the Sycamore Creek Trail in Arizona in his first-generation Porsche Cayenne when he came upon an unusual sight blocking the road—an abandoned GMC Hummer EV SUV. Details about who owns the GMC and what exactly happened to it before it was deserted in the desert are sparse, but based on the footage, it's pretty clear that a major suspension failure preceded the off-roader being left behind.

"Tie rod must be broken. I can see the CV joint is torn because there is a lot of grease in there," Skillicorn says in the TikTok video.

It's unclear how exactly the tie-rod or other suspension part may have busted, but the 11.0-mile point-to-point trails near Fort McDowell, Arizona, where the truck appears to have broken down, are marked as moderately challenging. Our own test of the Hummer EV found it to be surprisingly competent off-road, but the wrong angle of attack or an unexpected obstruction can end even the most experienced off-roader's day.

Road & Track has reached out to Allen Skillicorn for additional context about the abandoned Hummer EV; we'll update this story accordingly if we hear back with more details.
