A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening people with an air gun in a shop in St Helier.

The States of Jersey Police said officers received calls at 16:00 BST of a male acting suspiciously in a shop on King Street on Tuesday.

Firearms officers were deployed and found the man outside the shop in possession of a BB gun - an air gun which shoots plastic pellets, it added.

The force said it had arrested the 43-year-old man and had taken him into custody.
