First Lady Jill Biden is leading the U.S. delegation to the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony this evening.

For the occasion, Dr. Biden wore a blue Ralph Lauren dress and matching Marion Parke pumps; her dress is perhaps a nod to the fact that all American athletes will be in Ralph Lauren this evening.

Yesterday, the First Lady met with Team USA athletes and their families. "When Team USA glides through the opening ceremony," she said, "they carry more than just our flag. They carry our nation’s heart and our hopes with them too. They show the world who we are as Americans: determined, optimistic, resilient. That our strength is found not only in our strides and swings, but in our hearts and minds. That with all our precious differences and infinite similarities, we are always one team. It’s what I love about our country: that we are united, and together we can reach for every possibility."

Before the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Biden went to a reception at Élysée Palace where she reunited with President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.

Other members of the U.S. delegation to the Opening Ceremong include the U.S. Ambassador to France Denise Bauer, Senator Chris Coons of Delaware, Senator Alex Padilla of California, and Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles. At the Closing Ceremony on August 11, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will lead the delegation. He'll be joined by Ambassador Bauer, along with Senator Laphonza Butler of California and Briana Scurry, two-time gold medalist with U.S. women's soccer, among others.
