Float Fest with Lil Wayne in Austin canceled just days before 2024 event at COTA

Float Fest has been canceled. Just days before the event was set to start at Circuit of the America’s Germania Insurance Amphitheater on Saturday, Sep. 7, a post appeared on the event's Ticketmaster page noting the event's cancellation. Scheduled performers included Lil Wayne, The Kid LAROI, and Jessie Murph.

The festival announced plans to return in March after a one-year hiatus. No Float Fest took place in 2023. Ticketmaster assured buyers that they will be refunded in full to the original method of payment used at time of checkout, as soon as the funds are received from the festival organizers.

In 2022, Float Fest organizers hosted the event at a 765-acre private property in Gonzales, Texas.

However, Float Fest was silent about its situation in 2023 when no event was announced. There was also no announcement in 2021. The festival was launched but later canceled in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

While being called “Float Fest,” the now-canceled music festival was not going to be on the water. Rather, the concert would take place in Austin, with attendees offered a $20 ticket add-on for discounted passes at Texas State Tubes to float the San Marcos River on their own time between Sep. 5 and 15.

After 365thingsaustin posted about Float Fest’s cancellation on Instagram, backlash in the comments was swift. Many comments highlighted the lack of floating despite the festival’s name, and outrage over what they called the "scam-like" nature of the event.

Ticketmaster gave a timeline of 14-21 days for funds to return to the bank accounts of purchasers.
