Friends star Lisa Kudrow's recent series Time Bandits has been cancelled after just one season.

The Apple TV+ series, which is based on the 1981 movie of the same name, debuted on the platform in July.

However, it is being reported that the streamer has decided to not move forward with a second season due to low viewership numbers (via Deadline).

Time Bandits revolves around a group of thieves as they embark on an adventure to help save an 11-year-old's parents.

However, "as the group transports through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds of the distant past while seeking out treasure, depending on Kevin to shed light on each situation".

"The 'Time Bandits' witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in the prehistoric ages, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the Ice Age, ancient civilisations and the Harlem Renaissance, and much more along the way," the synopsis adds.

The series also starred Unseeing Evil's Kal-El Tuck, Conversations with Friends' Tadhg Murphy, You Don't Know Me's Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Eddie the Eagle's Rune Temte, Knocked Up's Charlyne Yi and Heartbreak High's Rachel House.

Time Bandits was co-created by Marvel's Taika Waititi, Avatar's Jemaine Clement (who both make cameos) and The Inbetweeners' Iain Morris.

In Digital Spy's three-star review of the show, we said: "Taika Waititi's take on the 1981 cult-classic film has promise. If it delves deeper into its characters and embraces its own absurdity for bigger, more comical beats it could be a fun watch."

Time Bandits is available to stream now on Apple TV+. Friends streams on Netflix in the UK, where it also airs daily on Comedy Central. In the US, you can stream the show on Max.
