FSU football coach Mike Norvell gives update on annual trip to Jacksonville. Here's what he said

Florida State football's annual trip to Jacksonville remains on schedule, according to head coach Mike Norvell.

FSU is scheduled to practice at the University of North Florida on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

If weather and field conditions remain a factor, the Seminoles will be ready to relocate to another facility.

"We do have a continuous plan of potentially practicing indoors if we need to," Norvell said.

"We're going to see the fields. We’ll see what all that looks like as much of this trip. We're going to work our butts off when we get there more than anything else."

FSU held its 10th fall camp practice Monday while dealing with Category 1 Hurricane Debby, which made landfall two hours earlier in Taylor County. The Seminoles were able to get through the session with only rain drizzles and some high winds.

Norvell said that FSU will continue to monitor the weather before Tuesday while prioritizing the safety of his players and everyone on staff who is traveling.

"Obviously, the No. 1 thing for us is the well-being and safety of our players and everybody in part of the program," Norvell said. "Our prayers go out to anybody who has been affected here by the storm that's come throughout the state and as it continues to progress, but right now, all plans are moving forward. "

The Jacksonville trip has been an ongoing tradition during Norvell's tenure at FSU. It's another way of team building while prepping for the 2024 season in a different environment.

"It's just time for us to be together and to be able to get away and have some of those moments where these guys get to have experiences and build relationships in our last lifetime," Norvell said. "The Jacksonville trips have been really good for our program, so I'm excited about it."

The Seminoles will return to FSU on Friday and will hold its second private scrimmage on Saturday.

The next two weeks afterward, the Seminoles will prepare for its season opener against Georgia Tech for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland. The Week 0 game will kick off on Aug. 24 at noon on ESPN.
