Gamecocks in pursuit of state of SC’s next big offensive line recruit

One of the top prospects to visit South Carolina last Saturday for the season opener with Old Dominion was offensive tackle Zyon Guiles of Carvers Bay High School.

USC head coach Shane Beamer and offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley have become very tight with Guiles (6-5, 290) from his previous visits last March and for camp in June.

“It was great. It’s a learning experience to come back and visit somewhere that’s close to home, ” Guiles said. “I’m starting to build a strong relationship with Shane and Coach Teasley and (recruiting director) Sam Serbay and getting to know the players well and getting to know the area well.”

Beamer and Teasley have done extremely well recruiting in-state offensive linemen the last two seasons, and they have they eyes fully trained on Guiles for the Class of 2026.

“They tell me I’m one of the top priorities in the ’26 class,” Guiles said. “That’s something I really love to hear. I can make an impact if I was to go and play for them.”

Guiles kept his eyes on the Gamecock offensive line during the game.

“It was good. It was high-paced,” he said. “It was the first game and getting back into the swing of things. They’ll definitely look better going on in the season.”

Guiles was easy for Gamecock fans in the stands to pick out, and those that got the chance put in their two cents to let him know he’s wanted in Columbia.

“It was great, man,” Guiles said. “All the supporters telling me that this is home. Everybody seemed very passionate about football. Me being a recruit in South Carolina, South Carolina will always be maybe one of my top schools. Definitely it expanded my love for them a little bit more.”

Guiles plans to hit the road again this Saturday and head up to Clemson for the game with Appalachian State. He is also planning to visit Georgia and Florida for games. The Gators just offered this week. His offer list also includes Miami, Florida State, Duke, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Auburn and Tennessee.
