Georgia football injuries: Kirby Smart on Oscar Delp, Mykel Williams and more

The start of SEC play Saturday at Kentucky for Georgia football means it’s the first game week where the league’s new availability reports will be in effect.

Coach Kirby Smart always fields injury questions about players during his weekly Monday press conference. Would that change with mandated reports starting Wednesday and continuing the next three days?

Nope. He still provided updates ahead of the Bulldogs conference opener.

On top tight end Oscar Delp, who sustained a sprained ankle in the first half Saturday against Tennessee Tech and was held out for the second half: “Oscar’s good. Oscar’s fine.”

Smart sounded like defensive tackle Warren Brinson, who missed the Tennessee Tech game with an ankle contusion, has a chance to play.

“He looks good," Smart said. "Hopefully he’ll be able to go to today. We'll find out more. I don't honestly know until we get out there, but seems to be good."

Edge rusher Mykel Williams missed Saturday's game after sustaining a grade 2 ankle sprain against Clemson. He was still in a walking boot on Monday.

“He’s doing a great job of rehab," Smart said. "We’ll see where he’s at.”

Freshman defensive lineman Nasir Johnson suffered a lower leg injury late in the game Saturday.

"Nasir had a little bit of a sublux that he’s had before," Smart said. "Should be fine."
