Top 10 rankings

10. Horace Greeley (0-0) The Quakers are the only top team that hasn't played. But they'll make a quick dive into the deep end this week with one game. That will be Tuesday vs. three-win Yorktown. Previously: 10

9. Bronxville (1-2) — The Broncos tumble in the rankings but remain in the Top 10 after a lopsided loss to Nyack, a two-goal setback to Yorktown and a much-needed, last-second win over Long Island's North Shore High. The latter may be just what Bronxville needs to get back on track. Previously: 2

8. North Rockland (0-1) — After a tough, one-goal, last-minute loss to Pelham, the Red Raiders have three games this week, their toughest likely Monday vs. Ursuline. Previously: 6

7, Pelham (1-2) — The Pelicans' ranking may elicit a raised eyebrow but each of their three games was determined by one goal. Pelham beat top-10 North Rockland, 12-11, fell to Somers, 12-11, and fell to last year's No. 1 team and this week's No. 4, John Jay-Cross River, 10-9 in double overtime. Previously: 8

6. Ursuline (2-0) — Two convincing wins precede two big tests. The Koalas take on North Rockland on Monday before facing defending Section 1 Class A champion Suffern on Friday. Previously: 7

5. Yorktown (3-0) — The Huskers opened their season with a 7-5 win over then-No. 2 Bronxville. It then routed Scarsdale by 10 and Carmel by nine. Big tests loom this week with Horace Greeley visiting Tuesday and the Huskers traveling to Rye on Friday. Previously: 9

4. John Jay-Cross River (3-0) — After two nail-biters (a double-overtime win over Pelham and an overtime win over Somers), the Wolves enjoyed a little breathing room with a 13-10 win over Wappingers on Saturday. They have only one game this week. It's against rival Fox Lane, which could be close but John Jay will be favored.. Previously: 5

3. Rye (2-0) —The Garnets have lived up to expectations and have buried their first two opponents, the latest being Long Island's Port Washington by 11 goals on Saturday. This week will be interesting. Rye will play traditional Connecticut powerhouse New Canaan before taking on Yorktown, which is off to a very strong start. Previously: 3

2. Nyack (3-0) — The RedHawks came out of the gate on fire, opening with a decisive win over then-No. 2-ranked Bronxville. No-doubt wins over Hen Hud and Connecticut's Greenwich High followed. It's super early, but with Nyack outscoring its three opponents by better than a 3-to-1 margin, fans can't be blamed if they're fast-forwarding their thoughts to the playoffs. Previously: 4

1.Suffern (0-0) — The Mounties , the defending Section 1 Class A champions, opened their season with a one-goal win Saturday over Bethlehem Central, the defending Section 2 Class B champion. Suffern will continue to be tested this week with games against Mamaroneck, Section 9 Warwick Valley and fellow top-10 squad, Ursuline. Previously: 1
