'Gold Zone' is changing how people watch the Olympics — and fans are hooked

Athletes aren’t the only ones in the zone during the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Fans who want to catch all the Olympic action across the wide range of sports being played are in luck, thanks to “Gold Zone,” a streaming option that ensures viewers can see the most exciting moments from Paris while maximizing and enhancing the viewing experience. “Gold Zone” is sort of the Olympic equivalent of NFL Network's RedZone, which allows NFL fans to catch key plays during Sunday games. And, yes, they both feature host Scott Hanson.

Still not sure exactly what “Gold Zone” is? Read on for more information.

What is "Gold Zone"?

“Gold Zone” is a whip-around show on Peacock, in which viewers will be taken to events as they occur in the moment at the Olympics. That means at any one time you can be watching men’s tennis and then be whisked to women’s fencing.

“With up to 40 events happening simultaneously during the Paris Olympic Games, ‘Gold Zone’ will present viewers with the best and most compelling moments happening at any time,” NBC Sports said in a press release in March.

“The daily live show will guide fans through the excitement, triumphs, and emotion of the Games, scanning all the events that day to provide viewers with the most exhilarating moments and key races, routines, and finishes as they unfold live."

What do people think about "Gold Zone"?

The reaction has been positive, with several X users singing its praises.

“I’ve taken a lot of drugs in my life but I’ve never taken a drug like Peacock’s Olympic Gold Zone. What a rush. I’m deeply invested, simultaneously, in judo, fencing, gymnastics, and kayaking,” author John Green wrote.

“The Gold Zone may be the best thing NBC has ever done for the Olympics,” someone else raved.

“Peacock’s #GoldZone is a game changer for watching the Olympics live. Gold medal matches from sports I wouldn’t have been able to see any other way with just enough context to understand the moment,” another person gushed.

“I’m just one idiot on the internet, but I’ve been watching 'Gold Zone' Olympic coverage for an hour.. .. no clue how this hasn’t been the standard for all sports for ages. Amazing work @ScottHanson,” someone else wrote while giving the stamp of approval.
