Golden Retriever’s Dreams Come True When ‘Giant Bacon’ Appears on Big Screen TV

If you're watching TV and happen to see your favorite snack on the screen, chances are it makes you want to go to the kitchen and grab it...or maybe lick the TV screen. That was certainly the case when Piper the Golden Retriever saw sizzling 'giant bacon' on TV and tried to eat it right off of the screen! Her mom posted a video on Tuesday, August 13th, and it'll crack you up!

The video starts with Piper's mom entering the living room where the big screen TV is mounted on the wall. Piper, who of course noticed the cooking bacon, used the ledge below the TV to stand up and try to eat the bacon. She's literally licking the screen!

You can check out the short and sweet video here on Piper's Instagram page. I thought the video was hilarious, so imagine my surprise when I found that there was not one comment left about it! This definitely needs a bigger audience to see it because I'm sure people would have a lot to say about it!

Why Dogs Like Watching TV

If you're a Gen X-er, you might have been told as a kid that dogs are color blind, but recent studies show that dogs can see two primary colors, tones of blues and yellows. If you search for dog-friendly shows on YouTube for example, you'll notice a lot of those colors in the shows. Piper may not actually be able to clearly see the bacon on the screen like we do, but she can make out its shape and probably hears the sizzling and knows what it is. Who doesn't like to watch food and cooking shows! This makes us all wish you could 'smell' what's on TV!

A very popular cartoon made for kids that so many dogs love just as much is called Bluey. Bluey is a 6-year-old Blue Heeler puppy, and the show focuses on her and her younger sister Bingo, and their family. As with most children's cartoons each episode broaches topics around about family, imagination, and friendship, and of course, always includes the kids getting into a little bit of mischief. Whether it was on purpose or not, the cartoon seems to use a lot of these blue and yellow colors, making it a show that dogs can actually "see". This is why so many fans think that dogs enjoy watching it.

If you're looking for something to put on the tube for your pooch, dogs also like to watch shows with other dogs, cats, and of course food. Like Piper, sometimes they even think that the food or animals are in the living room with them! And check out this cool movie that was created specifically to catch your dog's attention; my dog loves it!
