Great Plains Lutheran, Watertown each sweep foes in high school volleyball matches

WATERTOWN — Great Plains Lutheran pushed its season record to 10-2 by sweeping Castlewood 3-0 in a non-conference volleyball match on Tuesday.

The Panthers built a 16-0 lead on the way to winning the first set 25-6 and followed with 25-20 and 25-16 set victories to close out the match.

Jolie Lien went 20-21 serving with five aces and 15 digs and Madeline Prahl 17-17 serving with two aces, 17 digs and two block assists for GPL. Kaitlyn Rawerts added 12 assits, Abby Kjenstad 13 kills and 15 digs, Kaylee Carlson 11 kills and three bl0ck assists and Lauren Hansen two block assists.

Castlewood (10-3) was led by Cassidy Kirwan with eight assists, four kills and six digs; Cydni Kudrna seven assists; Emerson Carter 12 kills; Ava Ruml, three kills; Lilly Jacobsen one solo block and two assists; Bridgette Horn, two block assists; Claire Horn, nine digs; and Nora Solberg, 11 digs.

  • Sioux Valley 3, Milbank 1 (25-11, 25-18, 22-25, 25-14) — The Cossacks received 20 kills and nine digs from Kaedyn Sapp, 13 kills and 15 digs from Adison Renkly, 11 digs from Emma Gorvin, eight kills from Lacey Langland, 19 assists and eight from Machaela Gerasch, 29 assists from Sunny Hesby and 32 digs from Caitlin Russell. Isabella Anderson (10 kills), Claire Snaza (nine kills), Rylee Scoular (21 assists), Addisyn Krause (eight assits and 10 digs), Siera Wenzl (12 digs) and Ella Sandvig (22 digs) paced Milbank;.

  • Warner 3, Groton Area 1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-12) — No. 3 Class B Warner used 15 kills and four block assists from Kyleigh Schopp, 15 kills from MaKenna Leidholt, 18 assists from Reagan Wood, 28 assists from Libby Scepaniak, 32 digs from Jordyn Jensen and 17 digs from Jaycee Jung to post the win.

  • Miller 3, Redfield 0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-13) — No. 4 Class A Miller got 10 aces and 10 digs from Jolie Palmer, 13 kills from Paige Werdel and 26 assists from Olivia Resel. Hayden Gall was 14-14 serving with nine assists and six digs for Redfield, which also received six kills from Ceci Suchor.

  • Madison 3, Arlington 0 (25-15, 25-13 and 30-28) — Jaya Engles produced 14 kills and 12 digs and Lydia Nelson 13 and 11 to lead Madison. Karley Theede contributed 23 assists. Jaelyn Huntimer notched 11 kills, Madi Bacon 14 ddigs, Maria Steffensen eight assists and Sony Johnson 14 assists and 25 digs for Arlington.

  • Hamlin 3, Estelline-Hendricks 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-11) — The Chargers (12-1) cruised behind Cadence Moeller's three aces, Issie Steffensen's 35 assists, Addie Steffensen's 10 kills and 11 digs, Jo Steffensen's six kills and 12 digs and Addie Neuendorf's 18 kills, two blocks and 13 digs. Presley Bury made six aces, four kills and 22 digs; Cambry Bury six assists; Brooke Johnson four kills, Lita Fryer four kills and two blocks; and Allie Duenwald 20 digs for EH.

  • Northwestern 3, Leola-Frederick Area 0 (25-3, 25-4-, 25-4) — The Wildcats were led by Ashley Haven, eight aces and 11 kills; Nikki Nickeson six kills; Anna Brumfield, six kills; Ella Boekelheide, 22 assists and 10 digs; Layla Ortmeier, six assists.; and Sophia Troske, eight digs. Jill Ellwein tallied 18 digs and three kills, Kaitlyn Mueller 16 digs and three kills and Tayler Vetter 16 digs and four assists for LFA.

  • Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Iroquois-Lake Preston 0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-6) — No. 4 Class B Hitchcock-Tulare improved to 14-0 by getti9ng 15 kills from Katelyn Schroeder, six kills from Cora Hofer, 21 assists from Lila Johnson, eight assists from Gracyn Bixler, five aces and two block assists from Isabel Gilbert; and 11 eight digs from Avarie Estey. Kera Dubro had three kills and eight digs, Hadlee Holt nine digs and Brityn Davies three assits for ILP.

  • Deubrook Area 3, Deuel 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-7) — Deubrook Area was led by Zoey Molengraaf's eight kills and four blocks, Kylee Johnson's seven kills, Matte Bauman's 24 assists and five digs, Chloe Haines' six kills and two blocks and Matti Ramlo's seven digs. Ella Kerkvliet (four kills, 11 digs and two block assists), Braylen Kreger (eight assists), Camdyn Peterreins (four kills) and Addison Timmons (13 digs) led Deuel.

  • Colman_Egan 3, Canistota 0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-13) — The Hawks (8-1) won with Brynlee Landis tallying 15 kills and 13 digs, Finzley Luze eight assits, Anna Zwart eight kills, Presley Luze four aces and nine digs, Kaylee Voelker 13 assists and Elaina Rhode six kills.
