Harlem Middle School student, 11, charged with felony terroristic threats and acts

An 11-year-old Harlem Middle School student was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening the school.

The student, who has not been identified, is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

In an email to parents Monday afternoon, school officials said the student made "comments of a threatening nature against the school."

Administrators and Columbia County School District Police immediately responded to investigate, according to the letter.

"Safety of students and staff is a top priority and threatening comments will not be tolerated and investigated fully, even those made in a joking manner," officials wrote in the letter.
