Hawkeye women's basketball players and an MLB MVP are coming to the Field of Dreams
The Field of Dreams is bringing in some special guests over the next two months. None of them are ghosts, but and they are athletes.
Three members of the Iowa Women's Basketball team and former Major League Baseball player Ben Zobrists are on the Field of Dreams special guest lineup for this summer's ghost games.
Here's everything to know about these guests' appearances in Dyersville.
Who is coming to the Field of Dreams from the Hawkeye women's basketball team?
Sydney Affolter, Taylor McCabe and Hannah Stuelke are scheduled to come to the Field of Dreams to throw the first pitch on July 20. You can also get an autograph from all three of the players before the game from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The game will start at 1 p.m. with the first pitch, and general admission is free.
When is Ben Zobrist coming to the Field of Dreams?
Former second baseman and outfielder, Ben Zobrist was the 2016 World Series MVP. Zobrist will throw the first pitch at 1 p.m. Aug. 3. Before the game, Zobrist will be signing autographs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to only bring one item for signatures.
Zobrist played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals and the Chicago Cubs.
What are Ghost Saturdays at the Field of Dreams?
For more than 30 years, "ghost players" have emerged from the cornfield to entertain the crowd. The game is the self-proclaimed "Greatest Show on Dirt." The players perform "hilarious diamond hi-jinks," according to the Field of Dreams website.
Where is the Field of Dreams?
The Field of Dreams is outside of Dyersville in eastern Iowa near Dubuque. It is a nearly 3-hour drive to the Field of Dreams movie site from Des Moines.
