Heather Gay is opening up about her weight loss journey.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, 50, first revealed that she was taking the weight-loss drug Ozempic last year. But during the series' season five premiere, she shared that she's had a "long-overdue glow-up."

"Thank god for modern medicine, that’s all I can say," she added in a confessional.

After fellow cast member Mary Cosby complimented Heather on her looks, the Beauty Lab + Laser founder joked that this could lead to a new friendship.

“I finally cracked the code,” she said. “I lost 25 pounds, and now Mary Cosby loves me! I’ve gone from inbred, to pretty and thin.”

In case you’re not familiar with it, Ozempic is the brand name for semaglutide. Ozempic is FDA-approved to help manage blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes, but it’s also used off-label for weight loss. (Worth noting: Sister semaglutide medication, Wegovy, is FDA-approved for weight loss.)

So, what else has changed for Heather over the past few years? Here's what to know about her weight loss journey.

She first revealed she was taking Ozempic in 2023.

Last year, Heather first shared that she was taking Ozempic, telling People that she was "on the Ozempic train...for a long time" but "hadn't really seen much results."

“I haven't had massive results, but enough for people to notice, which is great,” she said.

Heather also said she noticed that people treated her differently once she started to lose weight. “You lose five pounds, people are nicer to you,” she said. “I don't know why. It's just the way the world works and that makes me sad for women. But happy that I'm down five.”

Heather is still trying to navigate today’s beauty standards as a mom of three girls.

“I don't want them to have my genetics or have to struggle with society's standards of beauty," she said. "I just wish that there was a solution for all of us. But I'm feeling like I'm coming into my own a little bit and I think the glow up might be a little bit from that, too. But I'll give credit to all the medical intervention. It's my business."

How much weight has Heather Gay lost?

In the September RHOSLC premiere, Heather shared that she's lost 25 pounds. But she hasn't been without her detractors.

"I've been shamed for just about everything and anything," the 50-year-old told E! News that month. "I got shamed for being overweight and I got shamed for being on medication. So, you can't win."

"I'm still the same," she added. "I'm feel the same. I feel like I liked myself then, I like myself now. It's just Ozempic became available and it worked for me."

She struggles with the body positivity movement.

During the February docuseries IMPACT x Nightline: The Skinny Confessions: After Ozempic, Heather also addressed criticism that using the medication for weight loss is a “cop out” and that she’s no longer “relatable” because of it.

“It’s disappointing [and] sad to know that body positivity was all a big lie,” Heather said. “Because it’s better to not be overweight.”

Heather said she's had to “give up the banner” of being a “relatable” figure for body positivity.

In the docuseries, Heather also addressed a comment made by Mary during an October episode of Watch What Happens Live. (During the episode, Mary commented that Heather's Gucci corset must have been fake because "Gucci doesn't make a size 14.”)

Heather said that comment is “typical” of what she’s used to hearing.

“It feels like something I’m very used to,” she said. “I’m old enough to know that I have wasted a lot of years blaming myself and feeling guilty and shame over my lack of ability to be thinner. And if I had just known there was a medicine that would make me thinner with little to no effort I would have taken it 30 years ago and probably had a different life.”
