ATHENS − Ohio Wildlife Officer Breyer Ehrnfield, of Zanesville, has been assigned to Belmont County, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. A 2024 graduate of the Wildlife Officer Academy, Ehrnfield previously served as an at-large officer in central Ohio. He replaces Officer Logan Ambrister, who transferred to Shelby County.

Officer Ehrnfield, 24, graduated from Philo High School and Zane State College in 2021 with a degree in wildlife conservation and criminal justice.

As a wildlife officer, Ehrnfield has statewide authority to enforce wildlife regulations and protect state lands, waterways, and property. He also contributes to public safety both locally in southeast Ohio and in Ohio’s vast outdoors. Each year, Ohio’s wildlife officers speak to clubs and groups about conservation and wildlife programs; perform fish and wildlife surveys; and provide technical advice and instruction about hunting, fishing, and other outdoor-related recreation.

To reach Ehrnfield, call 614-563-1680. To report suspicious activity involving wildlife, call 1-800-POACHER (762-2437). Reports can remain anonymous.
