One person died and two others were injured following a three-vehicle crash in Parkland on Tuesday.

Pierce County deputies were dispatched at 9:04 a.m. to 99th Street South and A Street South. One of the drivers was extricated from their vehicle by Central Pierce Fire and Tacoma Fire crews. That driver died at the hospital, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Darren Moss told The News Tribune.

The other two drivers were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Witnesses said there was a garbage truck picking up cans on the side of A Street. A black pickup went into oncoming lanes at a high speed, ran the stop sign and hit a tow truck, pushing it into the victim’s vehicle, Moss said.

The pickup driver is being investigated for vehicular homicide.
