Two severe thunderstorms moved through the Boise area late Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms brought 59-mph winds and dropped the temperature in the area around 17 degrees, said Stephen Parker, NWS Boise senior meteorologist. The path and severity of any remaining storms is uncertain depending on how the outflow boundaries from previous storms interact with them.

“It’s possible for us to have more storms in the Treasure Valley this evening, but not guaranteed,” Parker said. “There are more storms to our south and west that could easily move through here over the next few hours.”

It’s been an interesting weather week in the Boise area with thick smoke choking the valley in recent days and ash raining from the sky in certain areas.

Boise also hit 107 degrees Wednesday, Parker said, which made it the record 17th consecutive day of temperatures higher than 99 degrees.
