Hillsdale resident airlifted from scene of motorcycle crash with deer

JEFFERSON TWP. — The Michigan State Police Jonesville Detachment is investigating a motorcycle crash involving a deer that occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Troopers and emergency medical responders were dispatched to Doty Road between Hudson Road and Peterson Road around 9 p.m. Monday night.

A preliminary investigation showed that a motorcyclist with a passenger traveling southbound on Doty Road struck a deer in the roadway causing both passengers to be ejected.

Neither were wearing helmets, according to MSP Jackson Post Commander Lt. Kevin Rod.

The driver was transported to Hillsdale Hospital and the passenger was airlifted from the scene with severe injuries, according to Rod. He was unsure which hospital the passenger was flown to.

Rod declined to identify either of the persons involved in the crash, but said they were from Hillsdale.

Doty Road was shut down while authorities investigated the crash.
