Honoring the honored: Findlay Galleries reception toasts Lighthouse Guild’s trio of honorees

A special exhibition of the works of contemporary British ImpressionistCharles Nealhighlighted a reception to celebrate the three honorees of the Palm Beach Friends of the Lighthouse Guild's signature fundraiser.

The reception honoring art collector Beth DeWoody; photographer Firooz Zahedi, and Palm Beach SymphonyMaestro Gerard Schwarz took place Jan. 25 at the Findlay Galleries, the iconic family-owned art business founded in 1870.

In addition to cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music and a leisurely look at "Spirit of Belvoir" ― a special exhibition of Neal's commissioned paintings of the historic Belvoir Castle in England ― the evening included remarks from gallery CEO/chairman James Borynack, Palm Beach Friends founder Marc Rosen, and Dr. Calvin W. Roberts, president and CEO of Lighthouse Guild. 

“When I look at the beautiful paintings here, I realize how grateful I am for the gift of sight, and cannot think of a better location to continue Lighthouse Guild’s 'Salute to the Arts' campaign,” said Roberts, who thanked reception hosts Borynack and Adolfo Zaralegui;and Jackie Weld Drake for hosting the holiday tea.

Roberts highlighted Lighthouse Guild’s evolution into a leading provider of comprehensive services for people who are blind or visually impaired, and emphasized its commitment to utilizing and leveraging technology and artificial intelligence to enhance productivity and foster independence among those it serves.

More than 100 friends and supporters attended the reception, which was followed by an invitation-only dinner for major donors hosted by Borynack and Zaralegui at Club Colette.

The annual Visionary Evening Dinner takes place Monday and will feature a live performance by cabaret artists Billy Stritch and Seth Sikes.   

Proceeds from the Visionary Dinner will assist the Lighthouse Guild in its mission to inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals by providing coordinated care for eye health, vision rehabilitation, behavioral health and technology as well as related services.
