IndyCar Nashville race: Starting lineup, TV schedule for Music City Grand Prix
LEBANON – Kyle Kirkwood, the 2023 Big Machine Music City Grand Prix IndyCar champion, won the pole Saturday ahead of the 2024 race Sunday at Nashville Superspeedway. The Nashville race was Kirkwood's last win.
Kirkwood averaged 201.520 miles per hour in qualifying. His 2023 Music City Grand Prix win came on the streets of downtown Nashville on a road course. The race moved this year to Nashville Superspeedway where it is being run on a 1.33-mile oval.
Kirkwood has not won a race this year and Saturday was his first pole.
Nashville driver Josef Newgarden qualified second at 201.352 mph and will start on the front row along with Kirkwood, the same position he had when he won the Indianapolis 500 for the second straight year in May.
Sunday's race will serve as the finale for the IndyCar series season. Points standing leader Alex Palou will start 15th. Palou will win the championship if he finishes no lower than ninth place.
