Isabella Scott of Silver Creek High School is the Courier Journal Student of the Week.

Isabella is an exceptional and dedicated student. She serves as the senior class president, the president of the Silver Creek Capstone Academy Program and the historian for the National Honor Society. Her commitments extend beyond academics as she is also a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), an active member of the Future Medical Professionals Club and a youth leader at her church.

Isabella demonstrates great school spirit by being an active member of the school’s student section, the Ozone, and is also on the Student Athletic Council. Isabella’s leadership was further demonstrated this past spring when she was chosen to talk to members of Congress in Washington, D.C., about a bill pertaining to AED access for the American Heart Association. Isabella’s future plans include being an emergency medicine physician.

Macie Gray, Bullitt East High School: Macie is a senior whose unwavering positivity, boundless energy and genuine kindness make her an exceptional candidate for Student of the Week! Always the first to greet her peers with a smile, she brings a contagious enthusiasm to every classroom activity and group project. Her natural ability to uplift others, combined with her dedication to both her studies and extracurriculars, inspires those around her to strive for their best. Beyond her academic achievements, it's her compassion and eagerness to help others that truly set her apart. For embodying the qualities of a leader and a friend, she not only enriches our school community but exemplifies the spirit of this award.

Fuad Ibrahim, Iroquois High School: Fuad is a senior who quietly leads prayer for a group of boys who are trying to stay out of trouble, trying to grow businesses after high school and trying to make their parents proud. He remains positive even after setbacks. He is a ray of sunshine to his classmates, teammates and teachers.

Melissa Leyva Sotolongo, Fern Creek High School: This cadet is an incredible start for our nomination of Student of the Month at Fern Creek High School. As our executive officer this year, Melissa, a senior, has already set a wonderful pace for our program with awesome motivation and drive. Thinking about the year to come, with the help of our commanding officer, she has focused her attention on important events. She is taking a detailed look at our new freshmen corps in hopes to work on getting them settled in for a great year. She has outlined a positive approach for the other officers to do the same. Her attitude, bearing and motivation are exactly what we need for this exciting year.

Elias Lezcano Cantero, Jeffersontown High School: Elias, a senior, is a straight A student, 4.0, and an excellent soccer player at Jeffersontown High School who has helped lead Jeffersontown High School to a historic start to the season. He has scored many goals and assists as a team captain.

Jordan Dungee, J. GrahamBrown School: Jordan, a senior, is the smiling face that welcomes students and parents alike to The J. Graham Brown School in the mornings. When Jordan had an open block on her schedule, she volunteered to work in our Welcome Center. One of her tasks is helping younger students at our K-12 school get signed in and moved safely to their teachers in Cubs Corner. At Brown, Jordan is a class officer, marketing director for our yearbook, and an active participant with our Black Student Union. Beyond Brown, Jordan owns her own business. She aspires to earn a degree in culinary arts and is motivated to make healthy food affordable after a family member was recently diagnosed with dietary medical needs and seeing first hand the financial impact healthier food can place on a family.
