Jackson Arnold stats: OU football quarterback shows mobility in win vs. Tulane

Jackson Arnold helped the Oklahoma football team fend off a late comeback attempt in a 34-19 home win over Tulane on Saturday.

The sophomore quarterback completed 18 of his 29 passes (62.1%) for 169 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also ran the ball 14 times for a career-high 97 yards and two touchdowns.

Arnold got off to a strong start on OU's opening drive. He led the team 69 yards into the end zone, and he capped the drive off with a one-yard touchdown run.

OU scored a touchdown on three of its six drives in the first half, which allowed it to enter halftime with a 21-6 lead. But Arnold and the Sooners went cold after that as the Green Wave chipped away at the deficit.

OU went scoreless on four straight drives in the second half, and Arnold threw his second interception of the season during that stretch.

But the former five-star prospect helped OU regain control by leading it on a 43-yard drive midway through the fourth quarter. Arnold capped it off with a 24-yard touchdown run that gave his team a 31-19 lead with 6:05 remaining.

The late score ended Tulane's hopes of a comeback, and OU improved to 3-0 on the season. It proved to be a strong outing for Arnold, who impressed with his mobility throughout the afternoon despite not taking many shots downfield.
