Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest's Photos Throughout the Years
The pair got married on Dec. 18, 1984, after only five months of dating. They've been going strong ever since
Jamie Lee Curtis has been captivating audiences with her talents since the 1970s. In her personal life, however, it's her husband Christopher Guest who's had the actress smitten.
She first laid eyes on him after spotting a picture of the actor and screenwriter in a magazine — and they were wed not long after.
Thirty-nine years, two daughters and many career highs and lows later, the power couple still stands strong. Check out Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest's photos through the years.
Young Love
Jamie Lee Curtis fell in love with Christopher Guest after seeing a picture of him in Rolling Stone. They would go on their first date in June 1984 and were wed by the end of that year, on Dec. 18.
When You Know, You Know
“I met my husband by seeing his picture in a magazine and saying out loud to a friend of mine, ‘I’m going to marry that dude,’ and married him ... months later,” Curtis told Hoda Kotb during an appearance on Today in 2021.
Mutual Feelings
During an episode of Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally's podcast, Earwolf, Guest revealed he too knew Curtis was the one very early into their courtship.
"It was a moment of just knowing," the This Is Spinal Tap actor recalled of their first date. "This feeling of, 'This is the real thing,' and knowing that."
Made for Each Other
Speaking about what makes her relationship with Guest so solid, the True Lies actress told Good Housekeepingin 2018: "My husband and I are opposites. We have been for 33 years, and we always will be. He’s an intellectual, and I was from the movie star/alcoholic/drug addict side, where education was not the most important thing."
"We don’t listen to the same radio station, we don’t read the same paper, we don’t go to bed at the same time. But we read the same history books," she stated.
Starting a Family
Curtis and Guest became parents through adoption after experiencing infertility, Curtis said in Pact's Point of View Newsletter, adding of her family, "Motherhood is every wonderful cliché in the book. There is an unexplainable sort of thing you just feel. It's a permanent commitment, one I've changed my life to meet."
The Halloween Ends actress is pictured above with the couple's first daughter, Annie, whom they welcomed by adoption in 1986. Also in the picture is Curtis' mother, the original scream queen, Janet Leigh.
Curtis and Guest later welcomed their second child Ruby by adoption in 1996. In her cover story for AARP The Magazine's August/September 2021 issue, Curtis revealed that Ruby was transgender, saying, the family had "watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby."
Power Couple
The lovebirds looked radiant while attending the Sixth Annual Costume Guild Awards in Beverly Hills in February 2004.
Red Carpet Ready
To celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary in 2020, Curtis wrote a sweet message alongside a throwback photo of the pair.
"One of the longest relationships I’ve had seeking comfort and contact and connection is with Chris. Today marks the 36th anniversary of our wedding," she penned.
"My hand in his. Then and now. Connected through our children and family and friends it became the links in our human emotional chain that have seen each of us through triumph and tragedy," she concluded.
Going Strong
The couple walked hand-in-hand as they arrived at the 76th Academy Awards in 2004.
Family First
The entire family showed up to support their beloved matriarch at her Hand and Footprint in Cement Ceremony at TCL Chinese Theatre in 2022.
By Each Others' Sides
Guest was right by his wife's side when she attended the 95th Academy Awards as a nominee for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. When she won, he was — naturally — one of the first people she thanked.
"To my family — my beautiful husband, Christopher Guest, our daughters Annie and Ruby — we just won an Oscar," she said in part during her emotional acceptance speech.
Still the One
Clearly, these two haven't lost their spark, as the Everything Everywhere All at Once actress was pictured goofing off with her husband after he presented her with the Modern Master Award at the Maltin Modern Master Award ceremony during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February of 2023.
"I feel safe when I drive up and see that [he is] home," Curtis, told AARP The Magazine in 2021. "That's the long marriage. It's the safety of knowing his car is in the garage, that I'm not alone,"
