Jennifer Lopez's Plunging Maxi Dress Had a Super-Strappy Surprise in the Back

Nothing says summer more than a maxi dress. It's easy, it's breezy, and an instantly chic option for just about any outdoor excursion. Just ask Jennifer Lopez, who wore the essential warm-weather style for a shopping trip in Los Angeles over the weekend. 

On Saturday, J.Lo stepped out alongside her 16-year-old daughter Emme to browse the shops in West Hollywood, wearing a plunging black dress that hugged her waist and flowed into a long, leg-covering skirt. From the front, the dress appeared to be your average maxi—but with J.Lo being J.Lo, we knew that just couldn't be the case.

And we were right—when she turned around, there was a strappy, spine-baring design in the back that created a cutout-like effect. Lopez accessorized with oversized sunglasses, her signature hoops, a gold bracelet on each wrist, and a woven handbag with black piping. Her honey-blonde hair was worn down in loose waves with a middle part and curtain fringe, and she finished off her glam with a frosty nude lip.

Lopez's outing comes just a few days after her estranged husband Ben Affleck's 52nd birthday. Despite the ongoing split rumors, the Marry Me star paid Affleck a visit on his special day and stopped by his Brentwood home in the afternoon. But by evening, J.Lo was out doing her own thing, dancing the night away with friends at a Bruno Mars concert.

It was reported that Affleck didn't join his wife, and instead, had a "small birthday celebration at home" with his three children—Violet, Fin, and Sam—whom he shares with his ex Jennifer Garner. "It's exactly what he wanted. He didn't want to go out to celebrate," a source told People. "The kids had gifts for him, and it was cute."
