Jodie Sweetin recreates her famous “Full House” dance to 'Motownphilly' more than 30 years later

Jodie Sweetin channeled her Full House character, Stephanie Tanner, when she shared a joint Instagram post on Wednesday showing her and friend Mitchell Gerrard Johnson recreating the iconic dance scene she performed on the beloved sitcom nearly 33 years ago.

The post features a split-screen video, with the original dance, which was set to Boyz II Men's hit song "Motownphilly," on top of their (perfect) recreation. Sweetin even donned a black ruffled skirt, matching crop top, and jacket similar to the outfit she wore in the original scene. The dance originally aired during the season 5 episode "Gotta Dance" on Nov. 5, 1991.

"How rude of us not to have done this sooner!" Sweetin captioned the post. "Thank you @feyblhouse for the sweet location!"

Full House costar Andrea Barber got in on the fun, too, commenting on the video, "STOP IT!! 🤣👏🏻💀 This is amazing! 🤩"

Commenting on her own post, Sweetin added, "Ok y’all… @mgjohns and I had the BEST time recreating this “Motown Philly Phabulousness”

Widow of late Full House patriarch Bob Saget, Kelly Rizzo, also shared her enthusiasm for the recreation, writing, "Hell yes!!!!"

Sweetin has previously expressed her love of the dance moment, telling Today in a 2018 interview that that episode was one of the most memorable for her on the show, which aired for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. “All of the girls in the background were girls I actually danced with at my dance studio. And my dance teacher came in and choreographed the number for that week and everything. So these were all my friends, 'cause I did grow up dancing," said Sweetin.

"It was really fun 'cause they would get to come in for the week, and I'd get to see all my little dance friends," she continued. "And this was a number that they already did, that they were doing in competition, and I just jumped in for the week and had to learn it."

Sweetin eventually reprised the role of Stephanie Tanner in Netflix's reboot Fuller House, which streamed for five seasons from 2016 to 2020.
