Jon Gosselin is opening up about the inspiration behind his recent weight loss.

On September 24, the Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum, 47, made an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show alongside his daughter Hannah, 20, and the two opened up about losing a combined 75 lbs.

“I was really concerned about his health and I know that my grandfather passed away when he was 62. Health is a really important thing for surviving and staying alive,” Hannah said, adding that she “was all for tagging along” when her dad started losing weight.

Jon admitted that losing his father early and approaching the age at which he died is always in the back of his mind.

“I just want to get right for my kids and be healthy and be around,” he explained. “I’m in a new relationship now, well 3 years, so you kind of start thinking about marriage and all these kinds of things. You want longevity.”

“I was more concerned about my heart health than my actual physical health,” he added.

Jon shared that since February, he’s maintained a healthy diet, worked out four days a week, including a daily 4.7-mile walk, and started using a body contouring machine. Up until August, he also used semaglutide — known by brand names Ozempic and Wegovy — which is an injection medication that works in the brain to impact satiety.

The reality star has since lost about 50 lbs. and his doctors said he’s on the right track.

“All my lab work is fantastic,” he boasted, noting that he previously had high cholesterol. “High LDL, high HDL, high everything. And they’re normal now.”

Back in July, Jon — who shares Hannah in addition to her seven siblings Alexis, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel, all 20, as well as twin girls, Mady and Cara, 23, with his ex-wife Kate Gosselin — admitted that losing weight has given him more confidence.

“I think confidence level. I work out at the beach and sometimes I don't wear a shirt because it's 100 degrees outside now,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Before I would just sweat through it, now [I take it off]. I have these things called abs. They just appeared."
