Judge Judy Declares 'Time To Simplify,' List NYC Penthouse For $9.5 Million
According to the New York Times, Judy Sheindlin has listed her New York City penthouse for $9.5 million.
The reality TV star, best known as Judge Judy, and her husband, former New York Supreme Court Judge Jerry Sheindlin, paid $8.5 million for the duplex in 2013, shortly after selling their residence at The Sherry-Netherland hotel, according to real estate records.
"We've enjoyed this jewel of an apartment," Sheindlin told the Times in an email. "Time to simplify."

The two-story penthouse in a 14-story prewar co-op apartment at 14 Sutton Place South in Manhattan has four bedrooms and six bathrooms. The interior is largely original but has been modernized with hardwood floors, central air conditioning and an integrated sound system. A large terrace wraps around the exterior.
The penthouse has a semiprivate elevator opening into an entrance gallery featuring inlaid marble. The living room includes a wood-burning fireplace and large windows with views of the East River. The formal dining room features floor-to-ceiling French doors. the eat-in kitchen with green marble countertops and a wood-topped island is equipped with high-end stainless appliances.
The new owner can cozy up with a book beside the fireplace in the wood-paneled library, with built-in bookshelves. The primary suite downstairs features a seating area, ample closet space and built-in storage. Two additional bedrooms have their own bathrooms and the third has access to a hallway bath.

The $10,130 monthly maintenance fee will give the new owner access to all the building's amenities, including a 24/7 door attendant, resident manager, roof deck, gym, bike room and private storage space.
Sheindlin, 81, is a former prosecutor and family court judge who starred in the courtroom reality TV show "Judge Judy" for 25 seasons from 1996 to 2021. She now appears on the "Judy Justice" show on Amazon Freevee. Her husband presided over "The People's Court" for two seasons.
The Sheindlins' residence isn't the only celebrity property for sale in Manhattan. "Elvis" director Baz Luhrmann's nearby town house is on the market for $16 million, as is a five-story home in the Lenox Hill neighborhood for sale for $16.4 million.
Manhattan home prices dropped 2.9% in April compared to last year. The median selling price for a residence is $1.3 million. Manhattan homes are on the market for an average of 106 days, compared to 107 days the previous year.
