Karamo Brown is opening up about his co-parenting relationship with his sons' mother, Stephanie Brooks.

In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE from the new digital series Co-Parenting Unlocked for The Karamo Show on YouTube, which is now airing its third season, the Queer Eye star, 43, discussed how he and Brooks balance co-parenting their two sons, Jason, 27, and Christian, 24.

"The structural part, I do lean on you sometimes for that," Brooks admits in the clip. "And I think again, it just benefits our kids because the balance is going to go back to them, and the love and support is there between us and our family.”

“I knew that already, but it used to get on my nerves,” Brown admits. "Because I was like, she gets to get all the good time and I get to have all the like, you know what I mean? And so for a long time, I resented that."

“Karamo, I never knew that,” Brooks responds, asking why he never told her how he felt.

“Because I wasn’t going to add extra stress," he answers. "I always felt like if I add extra stress to my son’s mother, that’s adding extra stress to my kid’s life.”

In Brown's memoir, Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope, he recalled finding court papers on his doorstep in 2006 seeking child support for his then-10-year-old Jason. He recognized the name of his high school friend, Stephanie Brooks, on the paperwork.

When a paternity test confirmed that he was Jason's father, Brown prepared to meet his son for the first time. The new father had a strong initial connection with Jason, which inspired him to get sober — years later he credited his elder child with helping him reach this milestone.

My son saved my life — and as much as people have always said I saved his, he saved my life because it gave me an opportunity to see that there was more to life than just me,” he told PEOPLE in 2019.

Brown also bonded with Brooks' other son, Christian, and in 2010 he formally adopted him.
