Kate Middleton is opening up about her health — and doing so with her family around her.

On Monday, Sept. 9, the Princess of Wales, 42, confirmed via video message that she completed chemotherapy after announcing in March that she was undergoing treatment for cancer. Princess Kate appeared in the clip with her husband Prince William, also 42, and their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

The footage was filmed by Will Warr last month in Norfolk, which is where the family's country home, Anmer Hall, is located. The montage, overlaid with a message from Princess Kate, opened with the Wales family on a walk outdoors, followed by footage of Princess Kate driving a car and solo shots of her.

"As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," the Princess of Wales began. "The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown."

"The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything," she continued.

"This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved."

The three-minute clip further featured footage of Prince William and Princess Kate sitting together and posing closely, the royal mom pushing her youngest son Prince Louis on a swing and George, Charlotte and Louis getting up close to the camera. It went on to show the Wales family playing cards with Princess Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and the Prince and Princess of Wales playing another round with their kids on a picnic blanket.

It also captured William and Kate laying down together and laughing on a blanket on the beach; a cameo from the Wales family dog, Orla; Prince William giving his wife a kiss on the cheek; Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte running to hop onto a hay bale; and Prince George and Prince Louis splashing in the ocean.

"Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes," Princess Kate said in the message. "I am, however, looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can."

"Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life," she continued. "William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling."

"To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey, I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness can come light, so let that light shine bright," she said in closing.

The update comes nearly six months after the Princess of Wales announced that she was receiving cancer treatment in March. In January, Princess Kate underwent a planned abdominal surgery, and two months later shared the news that she had been diagnosed with cancer in a pre-recorded video released on March 22. In June, the Princess of Wales said she was "making good progress" in a statement released ahead of her first official public appearance of 2024 the next day.

She has so far made two official appearances this year, both over the summer — Trooping the Colour on June 15 and the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on July 14.
