Knicks select Kevin McCullar Jr with 56th overall pick in 2024 NBA Draft

The New York Knicks have drafted Kansas forward Kevin McCullar Jr. with the 56th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

A fifth-year senior, McCullar led the Jayhawks with 18.3 points points per game during his 26 starts in the 2023-24 season.

The 23-year-old San Antonio native battled injuries during his final season in college, as he missed the Big 12 Tournament and was ruled out of the NCAA Tournament due to a bone bruise in his knee.

Here's a scouting report from ESPN's Jonathan Givony on McCullar:

"McCullar's toughness, competitiveness and versatility always showed up in his ability to guard and pass, and his improved scoring prowess and efficiency as a senior made him Kansas' most valuable player. While a knee injury ended his season early, his two-way productivity gives him a clear route to minutes on the wing if he can take another step as a shooter."

This is the third pick the Knicks have made in the draft, selecting Marquette guard Tyler Kolek with the 34th overall selection early in the second round after drafting 18-year-old French prospect Pacome Dadiet 25th overall Wednesday night.

It's been a week full of moves for the franchise, as they made the trade of the offseason so far, acquiring Mikal Bridges and a 2026 second-round pick from the Nets for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first round picks (2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031), a 2025 protected first round pick (via Milwaukee), a 2025 second round pick and unprotected pick swap in 2028.

On Wednesday, the Knicks decided to sign O.G. Anunoby, who they traded for prior to last season's trade deadline, to a massive five-year, $212.5 million deal.
