Which Kroger stores are being sold in Albertsons merger? What to know in Tennessee

Kroger Co. and Albertsons Companies have released the long list of stores the companies plan to sell, should a multi-billion dollar merger between the two grocery chains be approved by regulators.

The list includes nearly 600 stores in various states, along with six distribution centers and one plant. The companies plan to sell the stores to C&S Wholesale Grocers, a New Hampshire based company.

In a news release, Kroger Co. said that the proposed merger will create "meaningful and measurable benefits" for consumers, store associates, and communities that both Kroger and Albertsons serve. The merger plans to expand access to fresh, affordable food and establish a more compelling alternative to large, non-union retailers.

The merger was previously announced in October 2022 but the Federal Trade Commission sued to stop it in February, reported USA TODAY. Here's what else to know.

"Our proposed merger with Albertsons will bring lower prices and more choices to more customers and secure the long-term future of unionized grocery jobs," he added.
