DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE’S star-studded cast is certainly not to be overlooked. With Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their legendary superhero roles, and alongside them, The Crown’s Emma Corrin, and Succession Emmy winner Matthew Macfadyen, the film guarantees a variety of familiar film and television faces on the same screen. Among the cast, many fans were curious about the identity of Lady Deadpool, whose brief appearance and masked face left the character's true identity a mystery at first (she was joined on screen by the also mysterious and also famous Cowboy Deadpool).

While there was no face reveal during the movie, just like with Cowboy Deadpool and several other characters, their voices were a major hint. The film's closing credits finally revealed the truth: Lady Deadpool was played by Reynolds's wife, Blake Lively.

In the brief scene, Deadpool variants approach Wade Wilson (Reynolds), led by Lady Deadpool, who dons a similar iconic red suit to the one Reynolds's character wears, only with a long golden ponytail emerging from the top of her mask. Many fans speculated that these golden locks belonged to Lively, especially given that Reynolds stars in and produces the film. (Though there was also a quite popular fan theory that Lady Deadpool would be played by a certain pop megastar)

Once the film credits confirmed the identity of Lady Deadpool's actress, all that fan speculation was proven correct. Despite the quickness of the scene, it does not skimp on action; Lady Deadpool fights alongside the rest of the Deadpool Corps against Deadpool and Wolverine, and it's just as bloody as you'd expect.

The irony is that Lady Deadpool's character was actually inspired by Blake Lively herself. Deadpool comic creator Rob Liefeld shared on Instagram in 2022 that his vision for the character was based on the Gossip Girl star. Liefeld mentioned that he and his wife were huge fans of NYC socialite inspired shows and never missed an episode.

“My most bad-ass contribution to Girl Power in comics, LADY DEADPOOL! First introduced 13 years ago, we unmasked her in 2010 with her unblemished visage. Based entirely on @blakelively, as Joy and I were crazy Uber Gossip Girl fans (who wasn’t, right?), never missing an episode…” Liefeld shared on Instagram.

The actress also spoke of the full circle moment and participation in the film with a recent post to Instagram where she says, “The universe has such a magical sense of humor sometimes.”
