Lainey Wilson brings 'Whirlwind' to NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. See the performance

Lainey Wilson's ongoing celebration of her latest studio album "Whirlwind" has now seen the ever-busy performer touch down in the Nation's Capital for an NPR Tiny Desk concert.

She performed a trio of songs from the album released last week ("Hang Tight Honey," "4x4xU" and "Ring Finger") alongside the 2022-released chart-topper and global top-10 single "Heart Like A Truck."

The appearance continues a series of `breakout career moments for the Northwest Louisiana native, including her cast membership in the Grand Ole Opry and opening "Bell Bottoms Up," a Lower Broadway honky-tonk.

In a recent conversation with Apple Music Radio's Kelleigh Bannen, the performer noted that her path isn't just over a dozen years in Music City years old, but her path hearkens back even further:

"When my mama was pregnant with me, she told me that she would pray over her belly that I would have a voice to sing. It's really hard to explain because people think you crazy when you're like, "I knew at nine years old that I was going to be doing this," but it is the truth… I knew I wanted to do it and I was like, "Dang it. I got to figure out how to."

Lainey Wilson continues hitting milestones

Wilson was also recently honored with the Academy of Country Music's Triple Crown and Milestone awards at the recent ACM Honors event at Ryman Auditorium.

Wilson received the Triple Crown Award, an honor reserved for artists who have won ACM awards for Top New Male/Female Artist, Top Male/Female Artist and Entertainer of the Year. Wilson secured the honor earlier this year when she was named Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards, held May 16 in Frisco, Texas.

Wilson is the first solo female artist to attain the ACM Triple Crown Award in three years. She was chosen as Top New Female Artist in 2022, Top Female Artist in 2023 and Entertainer of the Year in 2024.

Lainey Wilson on tour

Wilson's is finishing up a 40-date nationwide tour (which started in Music City in May) extending through November 2024. Acts including Ian Munsick, Jackson Dean and Zach Top join Wilson on various dates.

"This new, exciting wave of country music is leaning into how so many country artists — who grew up loving rock 'n' roll — are crushing it by trusting the music that we grew up loving and respecting. That's making for dang good shows with some pizazz," Wilson stated to The Tennessean in March 2024.
