Lainey Wilson says she was spit on while performing, thought about 'finding whoever it was'

The Grammy-winning country star explained that she just "kept rolling."

When things go wrong on stage, Lainey Wilson shakes it off.

During a recent appearance on the Taste of Country Nights, On Demand podcast, the Grammy-winning country singer and Yellowstone actress recalled a nasty incident she endured during one of her concerts.

"Last year, when we were on our headlining tour, when we were just on a club tour, somebody spit on me, on stage," said Wilson, 32. "I thought about getting down there and finding whoever it was, but I didn't. I kept rolling. I just kept rolling."

Her initial reaction was one of confusion.

"First of all," Wilson said, "I was like, 'Why in the world would you buy a ticket and then go spit on somebody?' But also, there's some mean people in the world. Also, they could have just been drunk and just being silly."

The Louisiana native is able to laugh about it now. "It was weird. I saw it, like, coming through the air," she said. "It was like I made eye contact with the spit, and then it just, like, lands on me, and I'm just like, 'I got a heart like a truck.'"

She sang that last part, a line from her hit song "Heart Like a Truck."

In a troubling trend, artists such as Adele, Taylor Swift, Cardi B, and Harry Styles have all experienced fans throwing things at them on stage in recent of years, whether cell phones, drinks, or other objects.

Wilson had a different type of unscripted drama on stage in July when her pants split during her performance at the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Mich. After changing into another outfit, she simply joked about it and continued singing.

"Y'all just about got a real show," Wilson teased. "A real show!"

She explained that her team behind her let her know about the wardrobe problem: "You can't make that up!"
