LaVille's Brooklyn Foster is The Tribune's high school student of the week for Feb. 9

Congratulations to Brooklyn Foster of LaVille Jr./Sr. High School. She was voted by Tribune readers as the South Bend Tribune Student of the Week for Feb. 9.

Brooklyn Foster, LaVille Jr./Sr. High School: Brooklyn is highly involved in extracurricular activities, she is currently ranked number 1 in her senior class with a GPA of 4.0 on a non-weighted scale. She is pleasant to all of her classmates, is a quiet leader, and strives for the ultimate success in all endeavors. She is a great representative of LaVille Jr./Sr. High School.

Nominee: Abigail Demler, Clay Hgh School

Abigail Demler,Clay High School: Abigail is highly active in student council, sports and morning announcements. She is admired by her peers.

Nominee: Mystie Rios, Mishawaka High School

Mystie Rios,Mishawaka High School: Mystie is a senior member of the Scholastic Writing Club at Mishawaka High School and recently earned a Gold Key for her poetry submission. She is described by her teachers as a model student who writes from a unique perspective. Mystie is an amazing leader in the theater department, full of maturity and confidence, who inspires other kids to listen and focus. Mystie has a natural ability to lead.

Nominee: Zchary Hochstetler, NorthWood High School

Zachary Hochstetler,NorthWood High School: Zachary's outstanding academic achievements and exemplary leadership make him a deserving candidate for this esteemed recognition. Zachary currently holds the top rank in his graduating class, boasting a flawless 4.0 GPA. His academic prowess is further underscored by his commitment to undertaking the most rigorous courses available at our institution, including independent study Advanced Placement classes. Notably, Zachary has served as a captain for both our state-qualifying Spell Bowl and Science Teams, demonstrating his exceptional leadership skills in academic pursuits. Additionally, he has actively participated in various other academic competitions, showcasing a well-rounded commitment to intellectual pursuits. Beyond his academic accomplishments, Zachary is a distinguished Presidential Scholar Candidate and a National Merit Semifinalist, attesting to his exceptional standing among his peers nationwide. In the spring of the previous year, he achieved a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, a remarkable feat achieved by less than 0.25% of test-taking students nationally. His dedication to academic excellence, leadership, and intellectual pursuits makes him an outstanding candidate for the South Bend Tribune Student of the Week recognition.

Deanna Begley,Penn High School: Deanna has shown tremendous growth and improvement in her academics. She is a model student and great senior class leader. She is kind-hearted, hardworking, responsible, outgoing, and always willing to assist anyone who needs it. Younger students are drawn to her; they frequently go to her for advice about school and life. Deanna is insightful and knowledgeable. She has a bright future ahead of her.
