Twitch ll Drop Point Pocket Knife

The Twitch II is sized just right, easy to open, and delivered consistently strong results in our testing. The stainless-steel blade is substantial enough for a variety of tasks, yet retains a modest profile. It’s comfortable to carry in your pocket or easily attached to your belt.

Deploy the blade using the thumb stud on each side or by using the flipper (the triangular tab at the end of a knife’s tang that protrudes when the blade is closed). The spring-assist coil flips the blade out with ease.

Trapper Pocket Knife

I’m a fan of the Texas Toothpick myself, but there’s no denying the design and quality of Case knives. The Trapper is a classic, elegant knife that’s made in the U.S. It also has a spay blade—ideal for cutting rope, twine, or using as a spreader. The bone handle is jigged and has a comfortable grip, and is also just nice to look at.

Extreme Ops Serrated Pocket Knife

The Extreme Ops is a versatile knife thanks to its partial serration and point blade. It has a textured handle with finger indentations to give you a solid, safe grip. Deploy the blade with ease using the thumb stud or flipper.

At a closed length of just over three inches, it’s a great everyday knife that’s up to task for the outdoors. I can attest to the build quality of these—my first pocket knife was a Smith & Wesson from summer camp as a Boy Scout and it’s still going strong.

Paraframe II Knife

A small, stainless steel serrated pocket knife like the Paraframe II is worthy of having a couple on hand to keep in, say, your car and in your favorite duffel. There couldn’t be a better time to double up on this stainless steel blade, because right now it’s 35 percent off.

Among the features we appreciate its lightweight build and thumb stud to open and close the blade with just one hand. The minimalist design is also more subdued than other tactical knives we cover here.

Iridium Pocket Knife

The Iridium is a great choice for an everyday knife that handles daily tasks yet doesn’t look tactical. It keeps an edge for a long period after sharpening and has a smooth opening thanks to the thumb stud. It closes and locks firmly into place just as easily.

The blade is made of D2 carbon-tooled steel which resists wear and tear better than stainless steel. The lanyard hole can be used as a scrap or pry bar for some added versatility.

Misdirect Pocket Knife

The misdirect is about half an inch smaller than the Iridium for those wanting an even slimmer profile without compromising on build quality.

It forgoes the thumb stud and only relies on a flipper to deploy the blade, but you still get the lanyard loop that can be used as a pry tool. It has a standard stainless-steel blade but, at under $25, it’s no deal breaker.

Tenacious Pocket Knife

This knife from Spyderco lives up to its name with its reliable blade and comfortable ergonomics. The signature oversized hole allow for deploying the blade with your thumb using either your left or right hand.

You can unscrew the pocket clip and place it in whichever of the four positions that best suites you: tip-up; tip-down; left-hand; right-hand. It’s a well-balanced knife that can be used for a variety of tasks.

Signal Camping Multitool Pocket Knife

Leatherman multitools offer more than just a knife but aren’t so bulky you can’t include them in your everyday carry. The Signal has 19 different tools in all (yes, including a pocket knife). Other handy outdoor features include a fire starter, mini hammer, and safety whistle.

Tools open smoothly, and it’s easy to deploy whichever you need. It also comes with a nylon carrying case but it’s just as comfortable case-free in your pocket as it weighs just half a pound.

Bluetick Folding Pocket Knife

In testing, we were impressed with how comfortable the Bluetick felt in-hand and how easily the blade deployed. The ceramic ball-bearings keep it firmly closed, yet little effort is needed when pushing the nose on the back of the blade to open it.

It’s on the larger side, about 8 inches when opened, but isn’t cumbersome to stash in a pocket or attach to a belt. The clip is built well too, and stays securely fastened.
